RUG IV Compare
Given the significant impact that the proposed changes to the
Medicare reimbursement schedule will have on both your residents in
skilled nursing facilities and your Medicare revenue, we have
developed a group of reports that will allow you to see firsthand
how these changes may affect you.
In addition to an overall reduction of
$390 million in skilled nursing facility payments and cutting more
than one billion dollars by recalibrating the CMI values, the new
RUG rules reflect updated staff time measurements from the recently
completed STRIVE project. They also propose changes to limit
how therapy minutes are counted. By examining these changes
with your own MDS data using the RUG IV method applied to your
federal fiscal years, 2008 and 2009, and 2010 estimated experience,
you can learn in detail the potential results of this change:

The RUG IV Compare module was made
available on June 1, 2009 in order to be ready while the public comment period on the
proposed changes is still open. Our goal is to provide you
with the best possible information to ensure adequate and fair
reimbursement for your facilities. We hope that you will take
advantage of the opportunity to review the potential impact of these
changes, along with your peers and industry advocates, so that
concerns raised during the comment period are based on actual facts
rather than conjecture.
After the final rule is published, RUG
IV Compare will continue to be available for your use for one year
so that you can further to manage your budget in terms of the new
rules and rates. As with all CareWatch® tools, RUG IV Compare
will always be up to date and available to your staff twenty-four
hours a day, seven days a week.
To have access to RUG IV Compare,
there is a one time implementation charge per facility. When
you subscribe, RUG IV Compare will remain active for you until
October 2010 without additional charge. Please do not delay in
your decision to activate your RUG IV Compare tool.
